Three Upcoming Debuts

If there's one thing that 100 degree weather doesn't affect, it's art exhibitions. You are invited to skip the heat and come to visit some cool galleries! My art is showing in and around the state. All of the galleries are open to visitors with receptions scheduled. For the late-summer season, I'll be showing paintings in 3 new exhibitions. Here are the details:

My painting, Hester's Gleaming Scarlet, will make its debut next month. It was invited to the Plano Art Association's "Celebrating Area Artists" exhibition. I love being a part of my community's art scene. This exhibition will run through the month of August at the Plano Courtyard Theater. On Saturday, August 20, the Plano Arts Coalition will celebrate the 20th Anniversary of Plano Courtyard Theatre and the arts at the Courtyard Theatre. Beginning at 6:30 p.m., the Courtyard Gallery will exhibit visual arts by members of the Plano Art Association. At 7 p.m. patrons will enjoy performances by Plano Symphony Orchestra, Plano Metropolitan Ballet, Collin County Children’s Chorus, Chamberlain Ballet, North Texas Performing Arts, Plano Community Band, Rover Dramawerks, International Festival’s Ollin-Tonalzin dancers, and others. After the performance, guests will keep the party going at an arts reception at The Art Centre of Plano, appropriate for all ages. This is going to be a really fun evening! The Courtyard Theater is located at 1509 H Ave, Plano, TX 75074.

Another opportunity to beat the heat in Texas also features amazing art. Iris, Late Spring is scheduled to debut in the Southwestern Watercolor Society's 59th Annual Membership Exhibition. The Society received 299 entries this year from 134 individual artists representing 16 states. 82 paintings were accepted by juror Ted Nuttall, an acclaimed watercolorist. I hope you will visit the exhibition, which will open to the public on Monday, September 5th at Art Gallery Pure. The show will close on Saturday, October 1, 2022. A reception is scheduled for Sunday, September 25, from 3:00 - 5:00 p.m. at the gallery. Gallery hours are 11:00 - 7:00 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 12:00 - 6:00 p.m. on Sundays. Art Gallery Pure, 6121 W. Park Blvd., B113, Plano, TX 75093.

And here's a third debut, that's more of a fall event: My painting, Everything for My Beloved was accepted into the 49th Annual Rocky Mountain National Watermedia exhibition, which is September 23 – October 29, 2022. I'm super excited about this opportunity to show in Colorado. It will be held at the Center for the Arts Evergreen. If you're anywhere around Denver during those dates, Evergreen is just a short drive west. This exhibition will feature paintings by many award winning watercolorists from around the country. Juror, Soon Warren, was scrupulous in making her decisions. She selected 65 pieces out of 493 submissions. The show will take place in-person and hang in the Center for the Arts Evergreen gallery as it has for the last several years. In addition to the in-person show, an online, interactive catalog with links to the RMNW shop will be available so that art lovers may still view and purchase art. I'll post the link on my website soon! The gallery is located at Center for the Arts Evergreen, 31880 Rocky Village Dr., Evergreen, Colorado.

If you have never attended a gallery exhibition, you should certainly give it a go! Opening and closing receptions are filled with an air of energy and enthusiasm. It's an opportunity to just relax and enjoy real-life art and meet the artists. It can be part of a fun family outing or a perfect solo treat for yourself. Don't worry about dressing up, unless you would like to, or about knowing a lot about the art. Most galleries are not expecting that. And also don't worry about having to buy anything. Juried exhibitions are a great place to become familiar with art, with an option to purchase only if you feel really inspired. If you can't make it to a reception or opening event, the galleries are open for viewing at other hours. Sometimes it's nice to view an exhibition at less crowded times. Stay tuned for more opportunities to see art in person!
